League City Counselor - Igniting the spark of HOPE
Hanging On to Positive Expectations
Life happens! And honestly, it’s not always rainbows and butterflies. Or maybe tacos and Netflix are more your style. Either way, life can get messy, confusing, and often times, unmanageable. Add on pain, trauma, and hardship and you may begin to lose hope for change all together.
Hope empowers us. And who couldn’t use a little empowerment?
As a parent, I can remember the instantaneous love I felt for my children when they entered into our family, but if I’m being honest, it was the profound desire to protect them at all cost that caught me off guard. It’s intense. And can literally take your breath away. Seeing your child hurt or withdrawn, performing below their ability, or engaging in self-destructive behaviors can overwhelm us as parents and it is HARD to know when to seek help from others. I firmly believe that you know your child best. If something doesn’t feel right, trust that instinct. Often times, it’s not just the child but the entire family that needs support and empowerment while learning, communicating and creating healthier boundaries.
Change is possible. And it all begins with hope!
GET TO KNOW ME
Counseling children and families since 2009
After graduating from Texas State University (Eat 'em up Cats!) in 2008 with my M.A. in Professional Counseling, I moved back to Houston, TX and began my career as a family counselor with DePelchin Children's Center. Over the past 10 years I have counseled families and children dealing with difficult life transitions, crisis and trauma. I am a proud League City resident raising two busy boys with my husband, while continuing to follow my passion for working with youth and families.
The spectrum of difficulties that families experience is LARGE and I can tell you that no two families go through the exact same thing. We are all unique. Therefore, my approach to therapy is to learn about your life through your perspective and to help you navigate your path in a judgement free environment while providing tools and techniques to create a brighter future.
Please do not hesitate to schedule a free consultation so that you can freely explore the therapy process, ask questions and address concerns. We will sit down together, define what therapy is, clarify expectations, identify your concerns, develop a plan of service, and take a tour of the office and amenities. This consultation could be the ignition for that first spark of hope!
Life doesn't make any sense without interdependence. We need each other, and the sooner we learn that, the better for us all.
